In 2015, 10 Member States of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), including Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam, endorsed the ASEAN Community Vision 2025, a roadmap for a more peaceful, stable region where people enjoy human rights and a higher quality of life, and the benefits of community building. ASEAN Community Vision 2025 complements the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by promoting sustainable socio-economic development, and responding to environmental threats in order to improve the living standards of peoples of Southeast Asia. Countries around the world have agreed to contribute to, among other priorities, ending poverty, reducing inequalities, and fighting climate change by 2030. These goals expand on the successful Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and are interconnected. The ASEAN Community Vision 2025, is a roadmap for a more cohesive, integrated, and responsible Community, endorsed in 2015 by 10 Member States of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Community.
